Collingwood College is lucky to enjoy a diverse and energetic community, due in no small part to the many dynamic individuals who are parents at the school.
The parents of all programs and levels – innovative mainstream, Reggio or Steiner – have an unusually high level of interaction (but only as much as you wish) with many social and school-related functions.
Tolerance, engagement and respect for all walks of life is a notable trait of this strong, socially-minded community.
The Parent Association organises and supports many College activities including Open Day, Spring Fair, the annual College dance, a welcome picnic, festivals and information evenings, the weekly Thursday market after school, the College stall at the Collingwood Children’s Farm, and much more.
Parent’s Association meetings, and meetings to organise various events, are held regularly during the year, often over a coffee in the canteen. All parents we welcome to come along.
The Parents section of the Victorian Department of Education and Training’s web site has lots of useful information and links for parents of students at government schools including about Parent Participation at School.
